When he was just 18 years old, Beethoven became the head of the family, taking his two younger brothers "under his wing" because of his mothers death. Beethoven became unproductive in writing his music around 1813 because of his depression. In 1815 his slowly worsening deafness made performances severely difficult. Beethoven tried to broaden musics endless possibilities and open the eyes to the following generations of music composers.
